Being a mom is something that is hard to describe…it can be one of the most joyous unbelievably amazing job or it can be frustrating, mind-blowing and just horrible…well ok that is an exaggeration! It is different for each mom and with each child. I cannot believe the love I felt even when my daughter was still in my tummy. It just came natural to me. I really never was a big fan of babies but having your own just melts your heart. It is so special! I would truly give my life for my daughter. When she was younger it was so easy because she turned to me for everything and we were so close. She is now a teenager (Well do I have to say anything else???) Some days she is that little girl who needs her mommy and other days she is an adult making her independence known. Just wish I could figure out which day was which…haha
There are so many days that I wish I would do things different…wish I was a better example or wish I would say the right things or do the right things. I never know if I am getting through or if I am making a difference. I know that I need to work on my patience and my trust. Its hard to let go and let them make decisions – especially if they are not the ones that I would have made. I am learning….as all moms do – learn daily. Looking to the Bible to be my daughter’s instruction manual – I find these words in Proverbs about being a mom…
Who can find a virtuous woman? She is far more precious than jewels…
Strength and honor are her clothing, and she can laugh at the time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and loving instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the activities of her household and is never idle.
Her sons rise up and call her blessed.
He husband also praises her:
Many women are capable, but you surpass them all!
Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised.
~Proverbs 31:10, 25-30
Pray for me that I can be like this Proverbs 31 woman and that I may always fear the Lord and that I set an example for my daughter that she can follow. Pray for her that she will fear the Lord and grow in him. This world is so hard and give her the strength to stand up for God. I will pray for you as you are a parent raising a teenager in this world. There are times that we need to have support and need to trust the way that we raised our kids.
Happy Mother’s Day to all….happy mothering!
